Description
Is it possible to retrieve , recreate a script file from a published Excel document. The team only have copied of Published Excel document and have lost the original txr file. Similarly we would like to know if we can run an Excel published script from Studio direct (ie not via the Excel Add In - which we have short term issues , in our new environment but still need to execute scripts).
Applies To
Studio (Connect)
Cause
As designed
Solution
Additional Information
The current location of an embedded script is unknown when using a Connect license type. : in Winshuttle Studio 11 and higher, our Development Team had hidden the code and the .bak file is not generated at all.
If you right click on the Excel sheet, then select unhide, then select the Winshuttle hidden sheet, you will display only the name of the script and its path is empty
The Connect Usage report that can be run by your Winshuttle admin, does display the script path at the moment of the run if not embedded which might not be its current location
To re-create the script, provided that the run is successful, you can run it in debug mode to help know the steps to follow for the new recording
Also
No we cannot run an Excel published script from Studio as an actual script is needed
