We are starting to prepare for upgrade from Foundation 11.2.x to Evolve. First task is to plan and install Dev environment, separate Prod will follow later. Some questions:

1. Is it possible to install Development environment in a single server (VM), so that SQL and Evolve server are on same server, in order to avoid cost for 2 servers?
2. If looking for free/cheap SQL version, is MS SQL Express enough for Development purposes?
3. Do you know, if license terms allow usage of MS SQL Developer version for Winshuttle Development purposes?
4. If you think Dev single server setup would be possible, what would be CPU/RAM recommendations for Evolve with SQL Express or Evolve with SQL Developer?

• Is it possible to install Development environment in a single server (VM), so that SQL and Evolve server are on same server, in order to avoid cost for 2 servers? Yes it is possible but not recommended as it will not give good performance
• If looking for free/cheap SQL version, is MS SQL Express enough for Development purposes? Yes MS Sql can be used but it has space and other limitations. Customer needs to check there data requirements.
• Do you know, if license terms allow usage of MS SQL Developer version for Winshuttle Development purposes? As per current requirements Winshuttle don't restrict any SQL server usage in licensing
• If you think Dev single server setup would be possible, what would be CPU/RAM recommendations for Evolve with SQL Express or Evolve with SQL Developer? -Customer can go with a little higher configuration on setups ( see System Requirements for recommended Configuration) if user want to use single server and upgrade incase they face performance issues.
