Excel builds 1806 and 1902

Cause

For security reasons, new builds of Microsoft Office for Office 365 on Windows block activation of VBScript controls. You can unblock this control by using the registry key in the attached zip package.

Solution/Immediate Workaround

Step 1:

a. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\COM Compatibility

b. Find the key, if not present then add it {B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

c. Now add a D-Word “ActivationFilterOverride” set value = 1

Note: The COM Compatibility node may not be present by default. If you don't see it, add it.

for 32 -bit

Step 2:

a. Browse to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Office\ClickToRun\REGISTRY\MACHINE\Software\Wow6432Node\Microsoft\Office\16.0\Common\COM Compatibility\

b. Find the key, if not present then add it {B54F3741-5B07-11cf-A4B0-00AA004A55E8}

c. Now add a D-Word “ActivationFilterOverride” set value = 1

Note: The COM Compatibility node may not be present by default. If you don't see it, add it.

If the above steps do not work then do the following

1. Run a utility to update registry entry from https://gallery.technet.microsoft.com/scriptcenter/Registry-key-to-re-enable-835fba77

2.. Run the utility as admin.
