Description:
While trying to record or run a script in GUI scripting mode customer is receiving the error message "Error: Script could not be attached to SAP GUI"
Applies to:
Transaction 10, Studio 11 and Higher
Cause:
GUI scripting may not be fully enabled
Solution:
Step 1: Please confirm your SAP GUI version and patch level. If you are running a version older then what is supported by Winshuttle you will need to upgrade to resolve. Additionally, there are known issues with GUI Scripting in SAP GUI 750, patch 6 and below.
Which SAP GUI versions are supported by Winshuttle?
Step 2: Check that 'Allow Multithreaded GUI scripting' is enabled. This can be found in Studio under
File -> Options -> SAP Settings -> Advanced:
Step 3: Check the value of the following parameters in RZ11:
sapgui/user_scripting = true
sapgui/user_scripting_set_readonly = false
sapgui/user_scripting_disable_recording = false
sapgui/user_scripting_force_notification = false
Additional Information:
Once the above parameters have been checked. We have also seen this error be resolved by updating the ‘StartSapLogon’ registry key (Note: Please work with your Internal IT team to make this change):
- Close all Studio and SAP instances
- Open the Registry Editor
- Navigate to: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\WOW6432Node\SAP\SAPGUI
- Change the value of “StartSapLogon” from 0 to 1.
