or Error Message: RFC_ERROR_COMMUNICATION - ERROR 10054
Applies to
Studio, Transaction
10.x, 11.x
Cause
If there is a firewall between the client and gateway that converts external IP addresses into internal addresses, the gateway receives an invalid external IP address and, as a result, cannot establish a connection to the actual target.
Solution
- The gateway host and the actual target are usually identical. In this case, you can use parameter gw/alternative_hostnames to indicate to the gateway that the external IP address received identifies the host.
**Caution: gw/alternative_hostnames may only be set in the instance profile and under no circumstances in the DEFAULT.PFL!!!
- Check all the required ports are open as per Default ports used by Winshuttle software
- Check with the SAP Basis team regarding the Connection type used in System Entry Properties for the SAP server being connected to. Group-server option is used for SAP logon groups for load balancing so may resolve time-out issues that are caused by restrictions on the SAP router, firewall settings or by a network issue.
