If you have open processes that use a data template and/or a script, is it possible to make changes to the data template and/or the script without affecting the open processes?

Solution

No. Changes made to data templates and/or scripts when processes using them are still open, will cancel or remove the processes opened with the former version of the data template or script.
Once a solution is deployed to Production, changes should not be made. If you wish to make changes to a Production form, you will want to make them in DEV or QA first.
You should then only deploy the changes to Production when there are no open processes using the data template or script that was changed.
