Description
Customer needs to enable the app trace but can't log in to the software
Applies To
Transaction 10.x, Query 10.x, Studio 11x, Studio 12x
Solution
- Close out all of Winshuttle applications and Excel instances.
- Open File Explorer.
- In the path type %appdata% and hit enter. This will open your user appdata folder.
- Click on the Winshuttle folder.
- In the Winshuttle folder:
- For troubleshooting Transaction (version 10), click on the Transaction folder.
- For troubleshooting Query (version 10), click on the Query folder.
- For troubleshooting Studio (v.11x and v.12x), click on the Studio folder.
- Right-click the AppOptions.xml file in this folder and choose "Open With..." then choose Notepad.
- For Transaction:
- Press CTR+F to open a Find prompt and type AppTraceOn.
- Edit the value of this key from false to true.
- Save the file.
- For Transaction and Query:
- Press CTR+F to open a Find prompt and type IsTraceEnabled.
- Edit the value of this key from false to true.
- Save the file.
- For Studio:
- Press CTR+F to open a Find prompt and type WriteApplicationTrace.
- Edit the value of this key from false to true.
- Save the file.
After the AppOptions.xml file is saved, attempt to replicate the error.
By default traces files are written to the following locations:
For Transaction
- Documents -> Winshuttle -> Transaction -> Log
For Query
- Documents -> Winshuttle -> Query -> Log
Studio
- Documents -> Winshuttle -> Studio -> Log
