Description

Error received when opening an Excel document in Transaction 10.x: "An error has occurred while generating preview. Corrupt OpenXML document" No error is received when opening the same script in Studio 11.x.

Applies to

Transaction 10.X

Cause

Excel file is password protected.

Solution

  1. Remove all protections on your Excel file, checking also if any hidden sheets might be protected.
  1. Change extension to .xls(Excel 97 -2003)  instead of .xlsx
  1. Go to Review Tab in Excel and click on Share workbook.
  1. Check the "Allow Changes by more than one user at the same time " checkbox.
  2. Uncheck the "Allow Changes by more than one user at the same time " checkbox and close Excel.
  3. Now open Transaction and mention the changed data file and run the scenario.

    I am now having the same issue after using the same excel template after a few years. Now stopped working. I changed all file except for one as this is the only one that will not convert without losing all its information.
